It’s National Crayon Day! Farewell, Dandelion…

Posted in Uncategorized by K2Creative on March 31, 2017

It’s national crayon day.  Did you know that?  Neither did I, until about 5 minutes ago…

Just found out Crayola is retiring the color Dandelion.  No joke, y’all – that was my favorite color growing up.  It actually still is one of my favorite colors to wear.  I get it –  there isn’t much a kid might color with it, but I’m still a little bummed.  As a little girl, I would sketch cars, fashion, draw pictures, and there would always be a tiny bit of dandelion in every masterpiece (haha).

So it’s with a bit of nostalgia, I bid adieu to Dandelion.  Enjoy your retirement.  You had a good run.

Beauty and Splashes

Posted in Uncategorized, What's happening with the artists by K2Creative on February 15, 2017

Ashton Worthington tends to shoot dark, sexy, metallic work.  Recently, he was challenged to do something a bit more feminine, but in his style.  And just like that,  a new site section begins to form.

This guy continues to impress me every day.  Well done Ashton, splashes and pours (and beauty still life) just might be your next thing!

Check out Ashton’s still life work by clicking here.

Millennials at Work

It’s is my third time writing this blog.  I wrote all about millennials – people’s opinions on them, their power in the advertising world, and strategic marketing toward them.  I deleted it.  Because this blog isn’t about all that.  It’s about Ashton Worthington’s fantastic photo shoot.  And that, dear friends, is below.

And just like that, we’re headed toward Fall.  Before we do, here’s one more homage to Summer, courtesy of photographer Lou Bopp.  Lou spent his Summer traversing State Fairs, capturing characters along the way.  From pie eating contests to alligators, to hot dogs on a stick, here’s one more look at summer, Americana-Style.

Photographer Daniel Rosenthal is on fire.  Check out his latest shoot below.  HOT.  From Daniel:

“My aim for ‘Light and Denim’ was to shoot something unapologetic. Something with skin & expression & movement, & I feel like it’s one of those rare shoots that comes out pretty much as I had envisioned.

Lou Bopp heads to Jamaica

Posted in Uncategorized by K2Creative on July 15, 2015

Lou Bopp recently started a new project documenting Rohan Marley’s (yes, as in Bob Marley’s son) coffee plantation in Jamaica. I love coffee and had no idea what kind of hard work went into the process. The images are stunning and the passion they have for coffee is truly inspiring.

Lou’s thoughts….
What was the inspiration while shooting this project?

My curiosity. It tends to always lead the way. Sometimes it’s nothing but trouble, but I trust it lol! This project was great, and a awesome brand to connect with. I wanted to learn more about coffee, the origin of a bean and follow the process every step of the way. Caffeine rules the world, it’s the world’s most widely consumed psychoactive drug. Think about this; Remove caffeine from our world for a day, globally, and think about what would happen? My guess is that the world would be a lot less happy & productive in that one day, wars, crimes etc. Ha, coffee keeps the peace!

Personally, I love coffee, but I’m not an everyday drinker, at least I try not to be. However, I know folks that are, and if they were to abstain for a day, well, just give me notice so I’m not around!

Did you have any idea what went into the process of coffee making?

I really didn’t, and again that’s one of the reasons why I wanted to do this. I don’t think most people know the process and coffee is more popular now than ever. Exports alone, worldwide is a $20 B+ business. People can’t live without there morning caffeine. That’s pretty intriguing to me.

Was Rohan Marley what you expected him to be?

I tried not to have expectations. I like meeting my subjects, whether public figures or not, with an open mind. I always do my homework, lot’s of it, but at the end of the day I understand that mostly what I am reading about is being fed to us. Rohan Marley is great though, he couldn’t have been a better subject & person, his smile can literally light up the room!

Any surprises while shooting?

I’m always surprised. That’s part of the fun, the unknown. It’s pretty incredible how many steps that a coffee bean goes through before making it into your cup. And with Marley coffee at least, it was intriguing to see the steps behind the roasting process and literally choosing the perfect beans, by hand, that ultimately make it into the bag.

What do you like most about working on photography projects with people and new places?

I like to follow my interests and pull the veil back on subjects and hopefully educate myself and the viewer. Making images, whether stills or motion is my passion.
