Big Ballers on the rise…
That’s right – Katie and Kristy have joined a BOWLING TEAM through NY Social Sports Club. Let’s be clear – this ain’t your daddy’s bowling league. We’re not GOOD bowlers…we’re just in it for the beer. Or, so we thought. Turns out we’re a competitive duo, and after our mediocrity in game one, we’re now in it to KICK SOME BOWLING ASS.
Last night was our first game at Lucky Strikes on 42nd St and 12th Ave in Manhattan. I’d never been to Lucky Strikes – and my Roseanne and Dan Connor (yes, that’s a Roseanne reference) view of what a bowling alley is supposed to look like was obviously a little skewed. We might as well have walked into a lounge or club in the Meatpacking district! Lucky Strikes is SWANKY, from fancy seating to great decor – yet there we were, Kiwi Green Tee-shirts in tow, braids in hair, waiting for our turn to strut our bowling stuff.
And strut we did. With a combined score of under 100 points (my total just under 40, represent!), Katie and I proved you don’t have to be amazing to have a good time as our team, The “Big Ballers” was defeated by our opponents, “Angle of Entry.” As you can tell by the team names, this is a very sophisticated extra-curricular activity. 😉
Does this have anything to do with photography? No. If we met an Art Buyer or Creative Director on a league (ummm, which we did), would we try to promote the business? No. This is on a whole other level where business doesn’t matter – and right now the only goal is to WIN. Okay, correction – our only goal is to not get massacred at next week’s game.
In fact, I’m going to build up the strength in my right arm by lifting a small dumbbell while speaking to clients today. So, if you hear some light panting on the other end of the line…now you know the deal.
Oh, and all pics are courtesy of http://www.nycsocialsportsclub.com – we’ll start taking our own next week!
